I added the HP / Compaq TC1100 as well as a row for the chipset.
I started an Excel spreadsheet with a few of the models. This project started after viewing the comparisons on Linda's excellent website (TabletPC2). I cleaned up some of the language and alignment. The spreadsheet is best viewed in landscape mode or 75% on your desktop.
Hopefully this will help anyone wanting to purchase a Tablet PC. Please feel free to download a copy and if a model is missing then please add the information to a post in this thread. I'll then try to add it ;-)
February 2, 2004 As of today, only registered members are allowed to download file attachments in this forum. Sorry, but over 1000 people downloaded the file last month and no one made any suggestions for improving it. I kindly ask that if you are going to download the file then please make suggestions on how to improve it. Thank you.
February 9, 2004: I'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback this week. I fixed the spelling error on the Toshiba unit, added the Xplore iX104R, rearranged the processor cells so that they were consistent with GHz and fixed the Centrino labels. The counter has been reset to zero.
February 21, 2004: The Tatung TAB-B12D has been added to the comparison chart. The Motion Computing M1300 duplicate entry was removed. I'll add more when the unit arrives next week. The counter has been reset to zero.
February 22, 2004: I've been working on a new layout for the Tablet PC Comparison Chart. This has multiple worksheets within the workbook. This alpha version is slightly larger in file size. Please provide feedback and let me know how it can be made better. Thank you.
February 23, 2004: ALPHA Version only. Fixed spelling errors and combined Fujitsu ST5000 with TB10. I called Fujitsu and they confirmed that the TB10 is the Japanese model of the ST5000. Reset counter to zero.
March 4, 2004: I'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback for the ALPHA version. I've added all of the hyperlinks, fixed spelling errors, and rearranged some of the Best of categories. Please download this latest ALPHA. The counter has been reset to zero. The ALPHA version is now more complete than the tabletpcs.xls file and I'd recommend that people use the ALPHA over the older file. The old one is still present for downloading.
March 5, 2004: Fixed a really silly problem with mis-categorizing the HP TC1100 and Xplore iX104R Tablet PCs. Doh. Reset counter to zero.
March 7, 2004: The Alpha 2 release is now uploaded. This adds a new worksheet for comparing the Tablet PC to other devices. Worksheets for a changelog and To Do List have also been added.
March 8. 2004: ViewSonic V1250 is missing from the chart. This will be added.
March 9, 2004: Added space for ViewSonic, Changed Panasonic link to PDF, fixed PIII-M CPU designation for Xplore model. Spreadsheet is now over 100 K.
March 14, 2004: Cleaned up ViewSonic and Tatung model descriptions. Reset counter to zero.
August 15, 2004: Added Averatec model; cleaned up included applications; added row for internal DVD/CDRW drives. Reset counter to zero.
August 30, 2004: Added NEC VersaPro; details are scarce. Reset counter to zero

The Tatung TAB-B12D has been added. I'm not sure about the bluetooth options so I'll update this once the unit arrives next week.

There's a spelling mistake on the Best Of spreadsheet. Shouldn't it be Battery not Ballery?
I wish I had noticed this earlier TBH. It looks like alot of time and effort has been put into this factsheet. I decided on a Toshiba Portégé M200 though.
Now I got to change the top layer. Isn't very strong...
:)
Thank you. I fixed the spelling error and the font errors. The Fujitsu TB10 and Stylistic ST5000 were combined into one column with a note that they are sold under both names. This new version is now available.Originally Posted by XiXora

Thank you for providing feedback on the alpha spreadsheet. The Gateway spelling error and link has been correct and the file will be uploaded later.
I'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback for the ALPHA version.
- fixed hyperlinks
- fixed spelling errors

Seems to be a few errors...HP TC1100 is not a convertible, nor is the XPLORE model.
DOH !Originally Posted by leftistelf

These errors are now fixed in the alpha version. Since the alpha has more information, I've removed the other spreadsheet and uploaded the corrected version.
See, it's great to have called this an alpha version :)

The second release of the Tablet PCs Comparison Chart is now available for download.
(1) Considerable work went into formating the pages.
(2) A new worksheet was added for comparing the Tablet PCs to other devices. The handheld column is rather plain. Maybe someone would volunteer to help on that part.
(3) Changelog and To Do List worksheets were also added.
